The UFC is at it again, with their 2nd pay-per-view show in August. While UFC 101 was shallow on big-name fighters, UFC 102 returns with a bang. In the main event of the evening, two MMA legends, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Randy Couture, finally face off in a heavyweight battle.

Only one thing has been able to keep Fedor mania from sweeping the MMA nation and that is the now completely justified hype around the Carano/Cyborg woman's world Strikeforce championship at the 145 lb. weight class.

Well, after a weird month in MMA with the Affliction debacle, and musical chairs being played over at the August 15 card at Strikeforce. Josh Thompson out with an injury, Alistair Overeem not able to defend HIS title due to injury, Joe Riggs out due to a ?bad? reaction to some drug....

Just yesterday during a conference call held by the UFC, Dana White called Canada "the mecca of mixed martial arts." Why? Canada has the most rabid fans, some great fighters, and looks to hold some amazing UFC events in the future.

I was lucky enough to check out the 5th event from Long Beach Fight Night on Sunday, July 19. What a great night of fights! Really well run organization, top-notch card, the only thing missing was some air conditioning. I had swamp nuts 10 seconds in and my photographer, the imposing James Irwin, could have soaked through 10 shirts if he had them.
