I included a picture of the "WindSettlers" box as a testament to its gas reducing powers. As we storm the Scottish country-side partaking of all its gastronomic glory, this little pill goes a long way to easing the pain brought on by a wee bit of haggis, neeps, and tatties!
We arrived early Sunday morning after the worlds most expensive and slowest cab ride ever out to Gatewick. 95 pounds and we barely made the flight! Quick bus ride into the city and few blocks of dragging our suitcases over the cobblestones and we were safely home to the Edinburgh Travelodge. No room available yet, so we had a proper scottish breakfast (love them baked beans, see "WindSettlers" note above) and headed off to a lovely Episcopal church service in a 900 yr. old santuary. It was really nice. Communion was a bit unsettling as we all had to drink from the same cup. Luckily, due to my heritage, I feel immune to Scottish herpes.
After that a bit of rest in the room , then off to see some sights. We visited a really cool old church and graveyard, walked in a wonderful park and generally putzed around till dinner. Ate at a wonderful place called Monster Mash, which was a slightly hip, though thouroughly tradition purveyor of scottish food. I had sausage and mash with a nob of butter and brown gravy, Connie had steak pie, we split steamed puddiing for desert with syrup and cream....mmmmmmmm yummy!
We went to bed about 9 (both exhausted from 3:30 AM wake-up for our flight, but then were up at 2, watched a movie then back to bed till 9 AM - - this traveling has really messed our sleep patterns up.
I will update today (Monday now) in a bit... ta ta!
